Thanks for mentioning having table runners and garlands for a stylish wedding. My sister needs help choosing her decor for her wedding in the spring. She should find a theme first and go from there and focus on flowers.
A big congratulations if you're the owner of a brand spankin' sparkly new engagement ring! Wedding planning is really exciting but there are times when it can be incredibly stressful as well which is why a handy wedding checklist will be the thing you turn to again and again (even more so than your favourite Pinterest board). Before you get down to the nitty gritty, first things first, sign up to weddingsonline for all your supplier and inspiration needs and getyourself well acquainted with our galleries and Pinterest boards.
We've put together a Wedding Budget Checklist that includes the items most weddings entail, as well as the "typical" percentage of your budget you may want to reserve for each one.
Wedding Ceremony Budget Tip: Hold your wedding ceremony and reception in one place if possible. Not only will it cut down on transportation costs, but it will also reduce travel time for vendors that get paid by the hour.
Wedding Invitations and Paper Budget Tip: Go paperless! A stylish site like Paperless Post can generate e-invitations for everything from the Engagement Party to the Rehearsal Dinner. For more formal pieces like wedding invitations, choose a single-page postcard to save on both the cost of envelopes and standard postage. Also opt for a FREE wedding website!
Wedding DJ and Music Budget Tip: Find a wedding DJ with a great, all-inclusive package that can cover you from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. They'll be less expensive than live musicians, and may provide everything from MC and DJ services to simple lighting design and even photo booth setup.
Wedding Reception Budget Tip: Go "off" the beaten path when it comes scheduling your wedding. Have it on an "off" day (e.g. Wednesday), or "off" season (e.g. December), or at an "off" time (e.g. morning) when venues don't usually book events. You'll benefit big-time with hefty savings off their normal fees.
Wedding Transportation Budget Tip: Who says you have to rent a limo? Ain't no shame in a wedding party carpool caravan. And a bicycle built for two is an amazing addition to wedding photos.
Wedding Planner Budget Tip: A lot of wedding planners offer à la carte services, such as phone consultations, at low or hourly rates. So if you can't swing the full-service package, opt for something more affordable. Picking a coordinator's brain for an hour or asking them for venue recommendations can equal huge value for a small fee.
Honeymoon Budget Tip: We didn't include "honeymoon" as a wedding expense, but we love the idea of registering for one. Companies like Honeyfund make it easy! Guests are able to "gift" experiences in lieu of toaster ovens, and you get the honeymoon you thought you couldn't afford.
An event rentals company, along with your wedding venue and caterer, provides many essential items on your wedding reception checklist that you might forget. Don't forget to give these pros an accurate headcount once your RSVPs are in so they can make sure they have the right amounts of each necessary item.
Some reception venues have dance floors already installed, but if you're hosting an outdoor or tented wedding, you may need to have a dance floor installed. Tent and rentals company can help with this process.
Yes, champagne flutes are part of the glassware reception checklist item listed above, but if you and your spouse-to-be have a pair of special flutes you'd like to use for toasting, be sure to bring them on the big day!
The decor you choose for your reception will bring your wedding style to life! Whether you're going for classic, rustic, modern, romantic, or a completely unique type of decor, your florist, wedding planner, rentals company, and reception venue, can make your dreams a reality.
Adding some unique accessories, such as lanterns, geodes, vintage pieces, and geometric accents, to your reception tables can really help bring your wedding style to life. Your florist may be able to help you source these, or you can hit flea markets and other wedding decor retailers to find them yourself.
From microphones for all the toasts to a screen for the photo slideshow your Dad made, audio/visual equipment can be an important addition to your wedding reception checklist. Your DJ or band can likely help with this one.
From sparklers to confetti, there are lots of wedding ideas for a spectacular send-off. Make sure to display a sign letting guests know when the send-off will take place so they'll be in the right place at the right time.
For a sweet touch of nostalgia, many couples opt to display wedding photos of loved ones at their reception. Make sure you have a table set up for the photo and of course, nice picture frames are a must!
Your wedding planner will likely have all of this on hand, but just in case, it's a good idea to have copies of your vendors' contact information, your guest list, music playlist, and your wedding timeline close by.
Planning your wedding, whether you have two years or three months to do it, can be stressful. If like us, you make endless lists in your head (or on a scrap of paper) only to forget them minutes later, then our Ultimate Wedding Checklist is for you. It's a step-by-step wedding planning timeline of all the main things you need to do to pull off a fabulous wedding day. Wedding planning can be daunting, between doing the research, managing the budget, and working out what to do when. So we created a full, downloadable list of all the essential things you will need to do, from finding a wedding venue to going dress shopping, and planning a honeymoon to organising the RSVP list.
This list is a basic timeline based on a 12-month engagement, but it's important to remember that each wedding is different - we've shown brides who have organised their whole wedding in just 10 weeks, others take two years - this planning checklist has general guidelines that will be helpful to every couple. You can also get our three-month planning guide here.
Start by reading through the list below, then download the free printable we created at the bottom of the page, highlighting which ones apply to you, your other half and your wedding. That way you can tick off the tasks as you go (there's nothing more satisfying!).

Flowers are a key part of any wedding. Here is where your pre-determined theme will make things a lot easier. Your florist will be able to talk you through complementary colours, what will be in season and an idea of cost etc. so that you can work out the best package for your special day.
Similar to the tip above, see how early you're allowed to start delivering decor items (wedding favors, toasting glasses, cake knife, etc.) to your venue, if you have any. Take advantage of any extra time. Don't forget your ceremony items, too. Designate someone for this haul.

So if you are getting married in less than 12 months, just work through the itinerary below in order until you find yourself up-to-date on the wedding timeline. Best of luck!
Our wedding planning checklist is extremely thorough and will tick lots of boxes for most weddings. Obviously we have not included every single possible consideration or conceivable task that you might need to undertake during the wedding planning process. That is after all one of the reasons why we are paid for our services!
You have spent so much time planning for your wedding day that you may have not even thought about some of the things to do after the wedding. Here are some tips that can help guide you and simplify some necessary steps.
Generally, your wedding officiant is responsible for submitting the proper paperwork to make sure you get your marriage license. While the time that it takes changes from location to place, it normally requires a couple of weeks to get the true marriage license record. Deciding whether or not to alter your last name will likely take a while and there are tons of reasons you need to or should not make the change. Should you choose to change your title, attempt to begin the procedure soon after you get your marriage license. It is a small procedure, but you will find title change suppliers that could allow it to be a breeze. Some common items that will need to be changed are driver licenses and social security cards. 041b061a72
